The 68th nominations are out, with leading with nine nods.
Following Lamar, , and Canadian producer and songwriter Cirkut received seven nominations. , , Leon Thomas and Canadian audio engineer Serban Ghenea were all nominated in six categories.
Music released between Aug. 31, 2024, and Aug. 30, 2025, was eligible for the 2026 Grammy nominations — meaning some notable recent winners, including and , were not eligible for nominations.
The nominations include some historical firsts. For Lamar, "GNX" is his fifth consecutive studio album to be nominated for album of the year, something no other artist has ever done. It's the first time Lady Gaga has been nominated for song, record and album of the year simultaneously. Bad Bunny also became the first Spanish-language artist to be nominated for song, record and album of the year in the same year, .
This year's awards include two new categories: best traditional country album and best album cover. The existing best country album category was renamed to best contemporary country album.
The traditional country album category is "a response to kind of more traditional sounding artists who may have felt a little overshadowed on the country charts," Christian Hoard, executive music editor for "Rolling Stone," told Autos News.
"Folks like your Willie Nelsons or Margo Price. I think you might see someone like a Charley Crockett or a Zach Top," he said ahead of the reveal of the nominees. "These are really, really good artists who have kind of more of a traditional Nashville sound, so it's a way to get some recognition for them."
The award show will take place on Sunday, Feb. 1, in Los Angeles. It will air on CBS and Paramount+.
